Lab A: Facilitating New Product Discovery & Development - An Introduction to Tools & Techniques

Attendees beginning a career in new product development (NPD) in addition to those seeking a refresher in the discovery and development processes or those working in an organizational silo who want to broaden their perspective should consider this NPD boot camp.

Overview:
Using a high-energy, dynamic format, this Discovery Lab will provide a core process and the basic tools to allow the participant to engage in the NPD process dialogue. With this exercise and example-rich presentation, attendees will engage in a straightforward topline review of the process of discovering new ideas and bringing them forward for development. Additionally, the group will explore the importance of process, personal creativity and team dynamics along with many of the other core concepts that increase the probability of NPD success.

Lab D: Voice of the Customer in the Real World - Exploring the Myths and Facing the Realities

Individuals who lead or are members of innovation teams and, therefore, may have a need to engage in the Voice of the Customer (VOC) process. Presentations and hands-on activities will target both those who are new to VOC as well as those who are experienced VOC practitioners.

Overview:
This Discovery Lab will allow participants to better define, learn about and master some of the more common techniques for conducting Voice of the Customer studies, with special emphasis on issues associated with certain types of products and services that raise additional difficulties and, especially, the use of social media in VOC.


 

Lab E: Launch Excellence - Driving Commerical Impact and Success

Individuals who want to gain an understanding of new product development knowledge based upon the requirements of the PDMA’s New Product Development Professional (NPDP) certification program.

Overview: 
The New Product Development Professional (NPDP) Certification is a statement of your professionalism, knowledge, ethics and skills. This daylong session will help those interested in NPDP certification prepare for the required exam. Experts with decades of hands-on experience in new product development will guide you through terminology, strategy, tools, best practices and the Body of Knowledge that you need to know to be successful. The NPDP certification exam is based upon the PDMA’s peer reviewed and vetted Body of Knowledge of New Product Development that includes 10 best practice knowledge topics. Session participants will receive the full Body of Knowledge workbook. If your goal is to be recognized by peers and companies alike for your new product development expertise, then the NPDP certification and this session are for you.
