PIM Conference Social Media Guide

Innovation is most successful in environments that encourage collaboration and the sharing of ideas.  The intellectual exchange at the 35th Product Innovation Management Annual Global Conference is well served by this type of environment, and as such, PDMA encourages attendees to take every opportunity to expand their networks and share ideas with your fellow conference-goers.

Social media tools, particularly Twitter, allow you to capture ideas in real-time while at the conference, to discover fellow innovators with similar interests and to follow the innovation conversations taking place. Refer to our Twitter guide below to join in the conversation and enhance your product development conference experience!

Conference Twitter Guide

Share thoughts, learnings and quotes from the conference on Twitter! Follow the hashtag #PIM11 to get in on the conversation and hear what your fellow innovators are saying about the conference. In addition to the main conference hashtag, PDMA has created hashtags to match each of the Body of Knowledge (BoK) areas. The On-site Program lists which sessions and keynotes correspond to each BoK area, so refer to the guide below to know which hashtag to use when live tweeting at each session!

New to Twitter?

Twitter is a micro-blogging service where users can tweet their musings and favorite links, provided they are 140 characters or less. You can follow other user’s tweets, adding them to your Twitter stream, similar to an RSS feed or Facebook wall. Tweets are perfect for sharing short quotes, for pointing a friend to a webpage of interest or for following influential users or hashtags of your choice. What is hashtag, you ask?

Hashtags

A hashtag is short phrase added to a tweet to help with bookmarking or categorization. When you click on a hashtag within a tweet, you’re taken to a separate Twitter feed containing only tweets using that hashtag. For instance, #PIM11 (the PDMA Conference hashtag) contains all tweets that conference attendees and PDMA have used to discuss the conference. Clicking on this link will let you follow the conference conversation, and tweeting with it will allow you to join in, and make your voice heard!

QR Codes

Have you seen one of the symbols below at the conference and wonder what it is? It is called a Quick Response(QR) Code.  These barcode-style images are designed to work with the smartphone of your choice, acting as easy website navigation links.  If you have a QR-code application installed on your phone, it is as easy as taking a photo! Start up your cell phone’s camera and take a picture of the QR code below:

The codes around the conference will direct you to the conference website and to the proper hashtags (see above) to use for live tweeting the PDMA conference!
